Sedona AZ Trip - 01/30/10

Sedona, AZ trip last weekend with friends and family. There was 18 of us and 4 cars that went on this trip. We left vegas a little after 6am, plan was to leave @ 5am, of course we cant be on time. the drive was going to be 5 hrs from vegas... most of us was 1st time to go there but Bigmac and Family have been there numerous time, so they will guide us.

From L-R: Mico, Mio, Arthur, Nanay, Rhia, Mixey (doggie) Liza, Cielo, Bigmac, Mae, Jacques, Nicholas, Aldrine, Jean, Leizle, Markie, and me (taking the picture)

this was our 1st stop @ Kingman AZ, 120 miles away from vegas. needed to fill up and take the group picture. 160+ more miles to go.

2nd stop, somewhere before Flagstaff AZ, 30 more miles to our destination. needed to take a quick restroom break and ate a little bit of Tita Liza, and Tita Mae's Egg Sandwich and Spam Masubi. played a little bit in the snow.

Destination reached! the drive was really nice, it was overcast 40-50 miles from here, kinda looked like it was going to rain. the canyon drive was really awesome, kinda wierd bcoz going "down" here was a very small gradual up hill, when we reached the canyon we went down from 7000 elevation to 2000... passed a snow canyon then when we got here @ sedona it is all green without a single snow. Theres not a lot of view pictures, most of it was all of us, so this one i picked with my back turned... ignore that, just look at the canyons.

Our trip was visit the holy cross of sedona. its a small chapel on top of the hill, not a lot of walking so its nice, maybe it depends on how many tourist was here during the weekend and if you parked really far. its a very small town with a lot of small stores and scenic view. this chapel is realy nice and cozy, im really glad that we drove out here, im sure it will not be the last one. underground of this chapel is also the gift shop, my dad bought a couple souvenirs.

Walk path to the chapel, of course we had to take another group shot.

just in time for lunch, we had a small pot lock for the trip, every one had a share of food. just a little over 15 miles from the chapel on the way back up to the canyon. Theres a lot of camp grounds, there wasnt a lot of people this weekend and we were actually the only group in this area, parking wasnt a problem.

We brought our set up, burner and grill to heat up our food. We had some adobo, Sausage, Tocino (sweet pork), Pasta, Rice cakes, Coconut pie, bread, rice, and etc. Awesome picnic! could not be anything better than this!

After the picnic we decided to drive back, kind of thinking passing by grand canyon since majority of us havnt been there. We ended up just making the drive home and skip grand canyon, we might not make it there on time and not enjoy the scenic view because it was getting late. When we got back to Kingman we stopped over at Tita Reena's place (aldrine and jeans mom) stayed there for an hour to rest before heading back to LV.

back home! continued with a small party... i wasnt able to enjoy this part of the night because i literally crashed out after driving 600+ miles. This trip will be in the books! so much fun with friends and family. cant wait for another one in summer... we might plan a san diego beach trip for the weekend. until then! thanks for checking my blog.
